I found some similarities between the kmovie Dude in me and Kdrama return of a high school gangster
- Body-swapping theme: Both dramas feature a body-swapping plot, where the main characters switch bodies with someone else.
- Comedic tone: Both dramas have a comedic tone, with a focus on humor and satire.
- High school setting: Both dramas are set in a high school environment, exploring themes of youth, identity, and social hierarchy.
- Fish-out-of-water storylines: Both dramas feature characters who find themselves in unfamiliar situations, leading to humorous and unexpected moments.
- Personal growth and self-discovery: Both dramas explore themes of personal growth, self-discovery, and transformation as the characters navigate their new circumstances.
- Social commentary: Both dramas offer commentary on social issues, such as bullying, peer pressure, and social status.
While the tone and approach differ, these similarities highlight common themes and elements in both “Return of a High School Gangster” and “Dude in Me”.
My personal Opinion:
Dude in me is far better than this drama. The story of dude in me is more promising and interesting. The older guy patiently waits for the young boy to wake up in his body in the meantime he not only lost excessive weight but also he tried to catch up with his long lost girl friend. The story makes a interesting twist when he learned that his class fellow is his daughter. He tried to protect her too. Moreover the comic interaction between the Older guy in the body of a young boy and a young boy in the body of older man was hilarious. The older aka young boy tried to manage the gang but inside he was furious because he was scared of violence. Not even a single minute of this movie is boring. story took some logical turns and in the end every thing returned to its own place was satisfying to watch.
On the contrary the Return of high school gangster was bit boring. The story took some ridiculous turns some characters feel like they were not necessary in this drama. story was dragged and end was not satisfying. There was no need to kill the boy who was already living a miserable life
In terms of acting the dude in me actors did fantastic job.
Let’s start with the appreciation for the actors in “Dude in Me”:
- Jin Young (actor) and Park Sung-woo (actor) did an amazing job portraying the two main characters, showcasing great chemistry and comedic timing.
- The supporting cast, including Lee Soo-min (actress) and Kim Kwang-kyu (actor), added depth and humor to the story.
Now, regarding the lead actor of “Return of a High School Gangster”, Lee Jae-won (actor): - While Lee Jae-won showed potential in some scenes, his performance felt somewhat one-dimensional and lacked depth.
- His portrayal of the gangster character felt more like a caricature, lacking nuance and subtlety.
- Some scenes felt overacted, and his chemistry with the supporting cast was not as strong as expected.
(Please note that criticism is subjective, and opinions may vary. These are just some points to consider)
Supporting cast.
actors did the good job specially the bully guy. He was so cute and was totally synched into his character. While the hero sometime look quite odd in trying to speak in an accent. He in some scene in order to speak in high pitch voice was looking fake.
What do you think about it?
